Bahra University Law Student Selected Among Top 100 Candidates Nationwide for NHRC Online Summer Training Internship 2026
Dipanshu Sharma Represents Bahra University at Prestigious National Human Rights Commission Internship Programme
The School of Law at Bahra University continues to achieve new milestones in legal education and student excellence. Adding another feather to its cap, Deepanshu Sharma, a BALLB student (Roll No. BU2022UGBALLB14), successfully completed the prestigious Online Summer Training Internship (OSTI) 2026 organized by the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC), Government of India, from May 18 to May 29, 2026.
The internship witnessed participation from students across India, making the selection process highly competitive. A total of 1,417 applications were received from law and other discipline students nationwide. Following a rigorous screening process, only 100 candidates were selected, including 83 female and 17 male participants. Dipanshu Sharma’s selection among this elite group reflects his academic excellence, dedication, and commitment towards the study of human rights
Intensive Training on Human Rights Issues
The two-week internship was conducted online from Monday to Friday, with sessions running from 10:00 AM to 5:30 PM. The program commenced with an inaugural ceremony, bringing together distinguished experts, academicians, legal professionals, and human rights practitioners from across the country.
Participants were divided into eight groups to undertake collaborative research and learning activities. Dipanshu was part of a 14-member team that worked on the project titled:
“Gender-Based Violence as a Barrier to Human Rights Enjoyment.”
Research-Based Learning and Field Survey
As part of the project, the group conducted extensive research on gender-based violence and its impact on the enjoyment of human rights. The team designed and circulated a structured questionnaire consisting of 16 questions to assess public awareness and perceptions regarding gender-based violence.
The survey received responses from more than 115 participants. To further strengthen their findings, the group conducted telephonic interviews to gather insights into personal experiences, societal attitudes, and challenges faced by individuals affected by gender-based violence.
The research project provided participants with valuable exposure to data collection, social research methodologies, policy analysis, and evidence-based legal studies. more Than 45 Expert Sessions Conducted One of the key highlights of the NHRC Online Summer Training Internship was the series of expert lectures delivered by eminent professionals from various fields. More than 45 sessions were conducted covering critical aspects of human rights, including:
Child Rights
Gender Justice
Constitutional Rights
Environmental Rights
Custodial Deaths
Arrest and Bail Procedures
Human Rights Protection Mechanisms
Social Justice and Equality
These sessions enabled participants to gain practical insights into contemporary human rights challenges and legal frameworks in India.
Outstanding Team Achievement
Throughout the internship, participants were guided by NHRC mentor JRC Stuti Joshi, whose mentorship and support played a significant role in enhancing the learning experience.
Apart from academic engagements, the internship also featured a Book Review Competition and an On-the-Spot Two-Minute Extempore Competition, designed to strengthen communication, critical thinking, and analytical abilities.
In a remarkable achievement, Dipanshu Sharma’s group, under the guidance of mentor JRC Stuti Joshi and group coordinator Anusha, secured First Position in the Project Presentation Competition for their outstanding research work on gender-based violence and human rights.

Speaking about the experience, Dipanshu Sharma shared that the internship significantly enhanced his understanding of human rights law, research methodology, teamwork, leadership, public speaking, and policy-oriented thinking.
