Bahra University Eco Club Marks World Environment Day with “The Lasting Footprint Drive” at Wakhnaghat

Reinforcing its commitment to environmental sustainability and community service, the Eco Club of Bahra University successfully organized “The Lasting Footprint Drive” on the occasion of World Environment Day. The initiative aimed to promote environmental awareness, responsible waste management, and community participation in creating a cleaner and greener environment.
The cleanliness and environmental awareness campaign was conducted under the guidance of Ms. Priyanka Pista, Faculty Coordinator, Eco Club, Bahra University. The drive witnessed enthusiastic participation from 12 student volunteers, who actively engaged in waste collection and public awareness activities in the Wakhnaghat area.
As part of the campaign, the volunteers covered nearly 2 kilometers while conducting cleanliness activities and spreading awareness about environmental conservation, sanitation, and civic responsibility. Demonstrating their dedication towards sustainable practices, the students successfully collected and segregated approximately 11.5 kilograms of waste, which was later handed over to the Municipal Council , Wakhnaghat, for proper disposal and management.
A significant highlight of the initiative was the installation of two blue waste disposal bins in the locality. The bins were placed to encourage proper waste segregation, responsible disposal practices, and long-term community participation in maintaining cleanliness and environmental hygiene.
The drive not only enhanced the cleanliness of the surrounding area but also served as an educational platform to sensitize local residents about the importance of protecting the environment. Through direct interaction with the community, volunteers emphasized the need for collective action in reducing pollution, managing waste responsibly, and preserving natural resources for future generations.
Speaking about the initiative, faculty members appreciated the students’ efforts and highlighted the importance of environmental stewardship among young citizens. The activity reflected Bahra University’s vision of fostering socially responsible individuals who contribute positively to society through meaningful action and sustainable practices.
“The Lasting Footprint Drive” served as a meaningful contribution to the global celebration of World Environment Day and showcased the dedication of Bahra University’s Eco Club towards creating lasting environmental impact. The initiative stands as an example of how educational institutions can play a vital role in promoting sustainability, environmental awareness, and community engagement.
