School of Law at Bahra University Conducts Voting Awareness Campaign Amid Himachal Pradesh Local Body Elections

The Bahra University School of Law organized a Voting Awareness Campaign to educate students and the local community about the importance of voting in a democratic system, especially during the ongoing Local Body Elections in Himachal Pradesh. The initiative aimed to encourage responsible voting, strengthen democratic participation, and spread awareness about selecting the right representatives in the electoral process.

As part of the campaign, law students actively delivered awareness sessions on two significant themes — “Importance of Vote in Democracy” and “Criteria to Choose an Appropriate Representative in the Electoral Process.” The students interacted with senior batches across various schools of the university and also reached out to the local residents of Waknaghat to spread awareness about voting rights, voter responsibility, and informed decision-making during elections.

The campaign highlighted that voting is not only a constitutional right but also a powerful tool that shapes the future of society, governance, and national development. With local body elections currently being conducted across Himachal Pradesh, the awareness drive emphasized the importance of electing honest, educated, responsible, and development-oriented representatives who can contribute positively to society and public welfare.

The students encouraged citizens, especially first-time voters and youth, to actively participate in the democratic process and cast their votes responsibly. The awareness program also focused on the role of educated youth in strengthening democracy through informed electoral participation and social awareness initiatives.

The students were accompanied by Mr. Nitish Sharma, Assistant Professor, School of Law, and Ms. Rashi Sood, Assistant Professor, School of Law, under the guidance and leadership of Dr. Mandeep Verma, Head of Department, School of Law, Bahra University.

Through such awareness campaigns, Bahra University continues to promote legal education, civic responsibility, constitutional values, and community engagement among students while contributing towards building an aware and responsible society.
